The Garden Project

After reading Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle a while back, I became interested in reaping the great environmental, financial and health benefits of planting a home garden. I don't have a green thumb at all, so I opted for items traditionally grown here in the Skagit Valley with hopes of producing something: lettuce, tomatoes, broccoli, potatoes, strawberries, zucchini and herbs. Matt threw in a Walla Walla onion plant for good measure. Of course the Ranzes can't just have any old garden -- Matt built two 8 foot by 3 foot by 1 foot cedar boxes, complete with wire mesh bottoms to keep out the moles. Hopefully we won't have a late frost and our veggies will survive.
